Traffic lights and pedestrian crossings
In conjunction with Middlesbrough Borough Council, Stockton Council maintain 49 signalised controlled junctions and 57 signalised pedestrian crossings.
Middlesbrough Borough Council is the lead authority within
the local area for the design and maintenance of traffic lights and
crossings.
If you spot a traffic light not working, need to know more about the maintenance of traffic lights or crossings, please contact us.
Sites for new signalised junctions or crossings are identified from accident records at a particular area. A detailed study of the sites to assess the problems and possible solutions then takes place.
If these studies show that signals or crossings are warranted then a detailed design of traffic signals is provided by Middlesbrough Borough Council.
