Roads & Footpaths

This section of the website has information relating to roads and footpaths, street lighting and traffic lights.

The Council maintains most roads and footpaths in the area but the Highways Agency has responsibility for major roads such as the A66 and A19.

The Council may in special circumstances close roads to allow roadworks, movement of  large loads, sporting events or parades to take place.  This is done through a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order.
