Drivers

All drivers must be licensed with Stockton-On-Tees Borough Council and are issued with a driving badge displaying their photo, licence number and expiry date. They must display their badge in the vehicle and wear one at all times whilst working.

• Private Hire Vehicles must be driven by a driver wearing a blue badge.
• Hackney Carriage Vehicles must be driven by a driver wearing a yellow badge.
• Drivers wearing a blue and yellow badge may drive both types of vehicles.
• If the driver does not have a badge DO NOT get into the vehicle.

Remember:

• Before you get into a taxi or private hire vehicle, make sure that it has a proper licence plate and make a note of the number.
• Take a note of the Drivers Name or Badge Number.
• If you are using a Private Hire Vehicle, check that it is from the company that you booked with.
