Community Lynx: New Service
Do you live in one of the following villages - Stillington,
Thorpe Thewles, Whitton, Bishopton, Carlton, Redmarshall, Elton or
Longnewton?
Exciting changes are about to take place to your bus services. This will affect the evening and Sunday services as Stockton Council has reviewed the way that subsidised bus services are delivered in the western area villages.
Stockton Council does not run commercial bus services but we do provide some funding so that some services that are not commercially viable can be made available (including early morning, evening and Sunday bus services). In order for these to continue we have developed a new way of delivering your rural village bus services to better suit your needs which will allow you to:
- Catch the bus when you want to.
- Catch the bus from a more convenient location.
The routes detailed below which cover the above mentioned villages will be serviced by the Community Lynx Bus from 28th June 2009.
- Stillington
- Thorpe Thewles
- Whitton
- Bishopton
- Carlton
- Redmarshall
- Longnewton
- Elton
How Does this work?
The service operates between 6pm to
11pm Monday - Friday and between 1pm
to 11pm Saturday - Sunday on an
hourly circular route between the villages and Stockton High Street.
For a trial period there will be a standard flat rate charge of
£1 each adult and
50p each child per journey. Concessions travel
free on production of a valid pass.
How Do I Use the service?
To use the service you need to live in one of the villages
listed above, register and be issued with a bus pass which will be
provided free of charge together with route details.
If you would like to learn more about this service or register please telephone 01642 527159 or e-mail John.Howe@stockton.gov.uk.
