Public Transport

Stockton Council does not operate bus, train or taxi services. These services are provided by various private operators, all of whom operate on a commercial basis.

The Council is committed to improving access to the public transport network - as part of a wider commitment to improving access to jobs, education, healthcare, retail and leisure facilities within the Borough.  We invest over £4 million each year in:

  • New Infrastructure including bus stops & shelters, bus priority schemes, CCTV cameras on buses and rail enhancements
  • Paying for Non-Commercial early morning, evening and Sunday 'Boroughbus' Bus Services that would not otherwise be provided - over £500,000 a year
  • Concessionary Fare Schemes, including the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme, with local enhancements to allow travel at any time, plus the 'Pathfinder' scheme for 16 to 19 year olds
  • Community Transport, including the 'Dial-a-Ride' service

Information about public transport across the Tees Valley can be found at the Connect Tees Valley website.
