Highways Design Guide & Specification

A Highways Design Guide & Specification document has been produced by a working group comprising Engineers and Planners from the 5 Tees-Valley Local Authorities: Stockton, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Darlington and Redcar & Cleveland council's, and is intended for use by architects, engineers, planners and developers involved in the preparation of schemes for new development.

The guide is intended to assist developers setting out the basic principles which should be followed in terms of providing safe, convenient and functionally effective road, footpath and cycle routes, whilst ensuring that they contribute to the overall attractiveness of the site and its setting.
