Guided cycle rides in Stockton-on-Tees
In partnership with Sustrans and Stockton Councils' volunteer ride leaders we are offering a series of 14 guided cycle rides across the Borough to help promote cycling in 2011.
Our rides help support people either new to the saddle, or returning riders wanting to get some more exercise, reduce their car use, or just get out and enjoy the local area in a low-impact way.
Designed for commuting and leisure cyclists, the rides show how parts of the borough can be connected easily and safely by bike, using quiet roads and dedicated cycle routes.
Rides typically last from one to two hours and are conducted at a steady pace, with frequent stops for less experienced riders to gather breath, or to just enjoy the scenery.
Ride leaders guide the route, offer advice, and manage the group through junctions and crossing points.
For the 2011 rides programme we have starting points at Ingleby Barwick, Stockton Town Centre, Billingham Forum, Tees Barrage, and Wynyard Woodland Park.

The remaining rides are is on Sunday, 18 December - Christmas Ride
If you don't fancy joining the guided rides we also have a series of seven self-guided ride maps which are available online or in hard copy from The Hub.
A series of seven self-guided cycle route cards are now available. The routes are all aimed at those getting into cycling with the longest ride being 7.5miles. The routes make as much use as possible of the Borough's traffic-free path network and cover all areas of the Borough.
Laminated hard copies of the guides are available by calling at The Hub, 17 Bridge Road, Stockton, or by using the contact details on the left of the page.
