Bikeability Cycle Training

Bikeability is the new name for National Standard cycle training.

BikeabilityBikeability encompasses three levels (as set out below) from basic handling skills up to advanced road riding situations.

Stockton Council is a Bikeability delivery registered authority.

Our cycle training team offer Level 1 and 2 training to primary school children in Y5 and Y6 respectively. Level 3 is currently delivered to adults and older children. Cycle training for adult residents of the Borough is available free of charge and is delivered on a one-to-one basis.  Please call the number on the left of the page for more details.

The 3 Bikeability levels.

Level 1 is where you learn to control your bike. By completing Level 1, you can show you have the skills to ride where there are no cars and that you are ready to start your road training.

Level 2 is where you start with real traffic, but sticking to quiet roads. By completing Level 2 you can show you have the skills to make a trip safely to on quiet roads and cycle lanes, perhaps to school.

Level 3 is where you can move up to busy roads and advanced road features. It's like driving or motorbike lessons and once you have done it you should be able to bike most places safely, certainly after some practice.
