Bus Pass Information - Disabled

A bus pass travel scheme for disabled people was introduced in April 2008.

Pass holders  travelling anywhere within the Tees Valley (Stockton, Middlesbrough, Darlington, Hartlepool and Redcar & Cleveland) can travel free of charge between 9.30am and 11.00pm on weekdays and at any time on weekends.

From 1st April 2011 pass holders will need to pay a fixed fare of 30 pence for any journey starting before 9.30am Mondays to Fridays.

This fare will apply to all scheduled services operating within, from or between the areas covered by Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Councils. Travel at any other time remains free of charge.

The 30 pence fare applies only to pass holders whose pass was issued by Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland or Stockton-on-Tees Borough Councils.

Travellers who hold passes issued by other authorities will need to pay full fare if they wish to travel before 9.30am or after 11.00pm Mondays to Fridays.

If you wish to travel further afield you will need to contact the local council in the area that you wish to travel, to find out if they state travel time restrictions. This pass does not cover travel on National Express or other private coach services nor does it apply to rail services.
