Unload the Road

Stockton Council's Unload the Road campaign is helping to promote the benefits of sustainable modes of travel in the borough of Stockton.

There are lots of greener and healthier ways of travelling, which can bring benefits to both the individual and businesses, and work wonders for the environment.

  • Cycling is healthy, low cost and sustainable
  • Walking is one of the most sustainable forms of transport
  • Car Sharing saves on vehicle running costs, reduces road congestion and frees up more parking spaces
  • Car Clubs
  • Public Transport using the bus to travel to work just one day a week will help reduce the stress of driving

We are actively working with businesses and developers in Stockton, helping them to develop and implement workplace travel planning and they can now develop their travel plans online using Stockton's Travel Plan Builder website.

Our Road Safety Team is working with schools across the borough helping them to devlop Travel Plans and promoting Road Safety initatives to pupils.

The Council's Sports Development and Countryside & Greenspace Teams are promoting the benefits of walking by organising guided walks across the borough.
