A new bus pass travel scheme for disabled people was introduced on April 1st 2008. Anyone using the pass can now travel anywhere in England free of charge.
If you are travelling anywhere within the Tees Valley (Stockton, Middlesbrough, Darlington, Hartlepool and Redcar & Cleveland) the bus pass can be used at any time. If you wish to travel further afield you will need to contact the local council in the area that you wish to travel to find out if they state travel time restrictions. The new bus pass does not cover travel on National Express or other private coach services nor does it apply to rail services.
Stockton Borough residents that have already registered for a bus pass for disabled people should now have received their pass. If you have not yet received your pass please contact us.
If you have a disability and wish to apply for a bus pass please contact us for an application form or you can print off the application form from the downloads area at the end of this page.
Once you have completed the application form please send it to us with proof that you receive the higher rate of mobility allowance (a copy of the letter you receive from the department of Works and Pensions).
If you are unable to provide a copy of this letter or if you do not receive the higher rate of mobility allowance we will need to write to your Doctor for confirmation. Please complete the contact details of your Doctor in the relevent area of the application form.
Please see the definition of what constitutes a disability when referring to bus pass applications, this is available in the downloads area at the end of this page. If you would like more information about the bus pass travel scheme for disabled people please contact us.
