Specialist education provision

Stockton Borough Council is committed to the inclusion of all children within their local mainstream school where this is practical though we have four special schools that cater for a variety of needs.

Special schools

Ash Trees School

Catering for children from four to 11 years with profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties and autism.

Abbey Hill School and Technology College

Catering for children and young people from 11 to 19 years with profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, autism, and the clinically anxious.

Westlands School

Age 4-16 years for children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.

Additionally resourced provision

We have special provision within various mainstream primary schools, which can offer small group provision with extra adult support for a wide range of needs:

Mill Lane and Durham Lane primary schools
Provision for those with speech and language difficulties
Primary support bases
Provision for those with speech and learning difficulties at Tilery, Billingham South, St Paul's, Pentland, Oak Tree and Harewood Junior schools.
Infant assessment and support classes
Provision for those with learning difficulties at Billingham South, Mandale Mill and St John the Baptist schools.
