Graduate Teacher Programme -Set Assignments and Post Graduate Opportunities

Set assignments were introduced by the Graduate Teacher Programme Partnership to ensure that trainees develop an understanding of teaching and learning based on research and evidence and that they are able to relate this to the practical activities carried out in schools. Issues covered within assignments include:

  • read and research around current educational agenda topics
  • develop understanding of teaching and learning beyond their own context
  • engage in research related to aspects of teaching and learning
  • develop evidence based practice
  • become reflective practitioners

There is also an opportunity for trainees to gain Post Graduate Accreditation (through Leeds Metropolitan University).  This is possible by completing three set assignments, in line with academic requirements, and submitting them for assessment. The Post Graduate Certificate can then be counted towards further studies for a Masters Level qualification (180 credits in total).
