Foundation Stage
Stockton's Foundation Stage is child-centred and based upon sound principles of early years' practice. Stockton schools adhere to these guiding principles and recognise that:
- Children learn best through a play-based curriculum which can take place both indoors and outdoors
- Activities should be planned after careful observation of learning needs
- Activities can be offered to reflect a child's personal interests
- Activities should be designed to motivate children to develop skills, knowledge and understanding within a broad and exciting curriculum.
- Practitioners can help children to become confident learners and prepare them for their future.
A supported network exists to share best practice across the borough supported by the local authority which provides a range of CPD opportunities to further develop practitioners' skills.
