New Start

There are numerous reasons why some youngsters are either unwilling or unable to remain in full time education and this has been recognised by the Government as a key issue if we are to promote social inclusion.

NEW START is part of a national incentive that aims to motivate and re-engage 14-16 year olds who have dropped out of learning or are at risk of doing so. Youngsters are referred to New Start for a variety of reasons but they all share one thing in common - the potential to benefit from an individualised package of education and training.

The young people work with local Training Providers, Colleges and employers in order to gain a qualification, an insight and experience of the world of work. The New Start programme is designed to incorporate as much of the students existing school timetable as possible and requires a high level of commitment from all those involved especially the young person.
