Stockton-on-Tees Local Safeguarding Children Board has signed up to an innovative way of providing child protection training via the website for organisations, who work with children. There are two courses:
A) Awareness of Child Abuse and Neglect Foundation Module for front line staff which is appropriate for people in a paid or voluntary capacity who have a role that involves contact with children and families without formal authority or specific organisational responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of childrenof partner agencies.
B) Awareness of Child Abuse and Neglect Core Module is is for people who have considerable professional / organisational responsibility in relation to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
The e-learning module and online assessment provide a flexible delivery route for Basic Awareness of Child Abuse or Deliberate Harm to a Child.
The training is hosted by the Virtual College, one of the UK's leading e-learning sites who are working with Local Safeguarding Children Boards to develop the course.
The course is ideal for everyone who comes into contact with children, young people their parents or carers through work or voluntary work and it is endorsed and certificated by Stockton-on-Tees Local Safeguarding Children Board.
The structure of the course includes:
- Understanding the various types of abuse or deliberate harm to a child
- Identify the signs of abuse and what to look for
- Know how to ask questions if you suspect a child is being abused
- Know what steps you can take if you suspect abuse is happening
- Understand what happens after a referral to Social Services is made
- Know what to do if a child or adult discloses abuse
- Understand the importance of keeping records
- What to do if you suspect abuse or deliberate harm to a child
The learning package has 150 interactive learning screens, learner challenges, tracking and online assessment.
