About Us
Over 100 people work together to safeguard Stockton's children and young people and protect them from harm under the collective umbrella of Stockton-on-Tees Local Safeguarding Children Board (SLSCB). The legislation, which we work under, is contained within the Local Safeguarding Children Board Regulations 2005.
Board Members
The SLSCB is made up of 1st and 2nd tier officers who have a strategic role in relation to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children within their organisations.
Members of Stockton-on-Tees Local Safeguarding Children Board who are working together to safeguard children and young people in Stockton-on-Tees include the:

The Boards Independent Chair is Colin Morris and the Vice Chair is Sandra Egleton, Assistant Director of Children's Services, Barnados.
Task Groups
The Board has established Task Groups and short life working groups with agreed work programmes to:
- Carry out specific tasks for example; maintaining and updating procedures and protocols; reviewing serious cases'; and identifying inter-agency training needs;
- Provide specialist advice, for example in respect of working with specific ethnic and cultural groups, or with disabled children and / or parents;
- Bring together representatives of a sector to discuss relevant issues and to provide a contribution from that sector to LSCB work, for example schools, the voluntary and community sector, faith groups; and
- Focus on defined geographical areas within the SLSCB's boundaries.

Business Unit
The Business Unit staff as shown below, are based at Parkside, Melrose Avenue, Billingham and provide the secretariat function for the Board and its Task Groups and ensure the functions of the Board are carried out effectively.
