Register Office

You can register births and deaths, marriages and civil partnerships at the Register Office (Nightingale House). Here you can find out about these services and the different ceremonies that we arrange.

Register Office - location and opening times

Stockton Register Office is a central facility for people who live in the Stockton Borough - Billingham, Thornaby, Stockton, Eaglescliffe, Yarm, Ingleby Barwick and surrounding villages - how to get to the Register Office and our opening times.

Register a birth

Visit the Register Office to register a birth - with your permission, we can also tell other agencies and council services about the birth with the 'tell us once' service.

If you were not married at the time of a birth of a child you will need to re-register the birth.

Register a death

Get advice about registering a death or registering a still-birth - with your permission, we can also tell other agencies and council services about the death with the 'tell us once' service.

Our Bereavement services team offer guidance about what to do when someone has died, including information about the Civil Funeral service. 

Marriages and civil partnership ceremonies

Arrange a marriage or civil partnership ceremony.  Find out about marriages or civil partnership ceremonies held at Stockton Register Office or at a venue that has been approved to hold a ceremony.

Family history

Our staff can also help you get to the root of your family tree - we are more than happy to help you with your research to lead you back in time! We also hold details of burials held at the council's own cemeteries.  

Latest news from the Register Office

Standard Birth, Marriage or Death certificates issued by Superintendent Registrar are available at £10.00 for each certificate.

Those issued by Registrar at the time of registration will cost £4.00 per certificate, after the time of registration this rises to £7.00 per certificate
