3.South High Street

Our proposals for the southern end of Stockton High Street also include the re-introduction of short-stay car parking.  

Improvements to public transport are key to our suggested improvements and with the ongoing £60m investment in the bus infrastructure (across the Tees Valley) including improved bus shelters and real-time displays.  In addition we will review taxi spaces. 

And to encourage increased footfall in the Town Centre through the use of events space, we are looking to redesign the market space that will be concentrated around the Market Cross, Shambles Market Hall and in front of the Castlegate Centre.
