information.
What is regeneration?
Regeneration is about transformation and revitalisation.
It involves making improvements to housing, businesses, transport networks,
shopping and leisure facilities, as well as improving people's skills,
raising people's aspirations and introducing new people and vitality to the
area.
With a wide range of regeneration projects currently taking place, the
Borough faces the greatest degree of physical change for a century. The
regeneration of former industrial areas plus the redevelopment of town
centres and an improvement in housing quality and choice means that there
will be an exciting transformation in facilities and opportunities for
local people.
The involvement of local people is fundamental to the delivery of the
regeneration strategy and many of the projects within it have been
developed with extensive consultation with local communities. Throughout
all of our regeneration schemes we look to incorporate and celebrate our
history and culture.
Visit the Regeneration Summary page to find an
overview of some of the schemes currently taking place in the
Borough.
You can use the menu on the left hand side to find out more on the schemes.
Other projects will be added soon so please visit the pages again to keep
up to date with the latest developments. If you require further information
please do not hesitate to contact us.
