Alteration Number One

On 25 March 2010, some policies in the Stockton on Tees Local Plan Alteration Number One (2006) were replaced with new policies in the adopted Core Strategy Development Plan Document. Following the adoption of the Stockton on Tees Local Plan in 1997, there were significant changes in national planning policy. As these changes were not reflected in the Local Plan, Alteration Number 1 was produced and was adopted by the Council in March 2006.  The policies contained within it carry the same weight as those in the Local Plan and should be applied alongside it.

The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004) introduced a new system of Planning policy - the Local Development Framework. As a result, the policies in Alteration Number 1 were 'saved' until March 2009, when a comprehensive exercise was undertaken to decide which policies should continue to be saved until the Local Development Framework replaced them and which ones could be deleted. In March 2010, further polices were deleted when the Core Strategy (part of the Local Development Framework) was adopted.
