Sustainable Design Guide SPD

The Sustainable Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) assists the Council in the determination of planning applications and to provide guidance to the public and developers on improving the design standards and sustainability of new developments. It will encourage attractive and inclusive residential neighbourhoods and promote high quality design, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The public and stakeholders were invited to make comments on the content of the Issues and Options document from 31 January 2011 to 14 March 2011. The Spatial Planning Team would like to thank everyone who participated in the consultation. The comments received have been taken into account as appropriate and are included in the Consultation Statement which accompanies the SPD.

A Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) assesses the impact of all plans and projects on sites designated as of European Importance for their nature conservation value as required by the European Habitats Directive. An HRA Screening Report has been produced and concludes that there are no likely significant impact on the relevant European sites. This also accompanies the SPD.

Copies of all the relevant documents, including the Adoption Statement can be downloaded below. They are also available to view at the Customer Contact Centre in Stockton and at all libraries in the Borough during normal opening hours.
