Parking Provision for Developments SPD

Supplementary Planning Document 3: Parking Provision in Developments was adopted by the Council on 19 October 2011. The SPD is part of the Local Development Framework and sets out guidance for applicants for planning permission on the parking standards requirements associated with development in the Borough. The previous draft of Supplementary Planning Document 3 which was adopted in 2006 has now been withdrawn.

SPDs are used to give further guidance and detail to applicants for planning permission and the wider community on policies set out in DPDs.  This SPD provides further detail and guidance to Core Strategy Policy CS2: Sustainable Transport which states that "The number of parking spaces in new developments will be in accordance with standards set out in a new Supplementary Planning Document".

The public and stakeholders were invited to make comments on the content of the SPD from the 31 January 2011 to 14 March 2011. The Spatial Planning Team would like to thank everyone who participated in the consultation. The comments received have been taken into account as appropriate and are included in the Consultation Statement which accompanies the SPD.

A Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) assesses the impact of all plans and projects on sites designated as of European Importance for their nature conservation value as required by the European Habitats Directive. An HRA Screening Report has been produced and concludes that there are no likely significant impact on the relevant European sites. This also accompanies the SPD.

Copies of all the relevant documents, including the Adoption Statement can be downloaded below. They are also available to view at the Customer Contact Centre in Stockton and at all libraries in the Borough during normal opening hours.
