Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD)

Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD)

Development Control decisions are made using the Local Plan and Local Development Framework, together with Government guidance and representations made by affected parties. There are instances where the Local Plan and Government guidance are too broadly defined to be useful, so the Council may use Supplementary Planning Documents to assist in more detailed decision-making. All Supplementary Planning Documents must have a Sustainability Appraisal and a Strategic Environmental Assessment.

Supplementary Planning Documents are material considerations in determining planning applications. They contain guidance on what is expected of developers and if their proposals do not conform their application may be refused.

The Supplementary Planning Documents which have been adopted or are being produced can be found online.
