What is the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF)?

Neighbourhood Renewal is a Government initiative led locally by Stockton Renaissance, the Local Strategic Partnership for the Borough.

Neighbourhood Renewal focusses on improving services within neighbourhoods experiencing disadvantage, in order to narrow the gap between these areas and the rest of the Borough.

Neighbourhood Renewal is not a 'quick fix' approach; it is a long-term approach to tackle deep-rooted problems holding some neighbourhoods back. In particular it intends to build upon the growing commitment of Stockton Renaissance to use mainstream resources in different ways to better meet local needs, as well as encouraging new methods of partnership working to tackle the underlying problems causing decline.

How has the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund been spent in Stockton?

Stockton Renaissance was awarded more than £7 million in NRF resources for 2006/08. A booklet, which can be downloaded below, provides an overview of how these funds have been allocated in Stockton.

A DVD showcasing some of the successes of the NRF programme has been produced and features local people and service deliverers talking first hand about the impact the NRF programme has had on thier lives and neighbourhoods.

Copies of the DVD can be requested by contacting Nicola Hall on (01642) 527823.

A report assessing the impact of the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund 2001 - 2008 can also be downloaded below.
