The catch line ‘It’s Time ….’ has been chosen to sum up the commitment of residents and organisations to work together to tackle the long standing deprivation issues affecting the neighbourhood.
Year One: ‘It’s Time to …. Change’
This encapsulates the commitment from the community and agencies to change the way in which they work together to improve services. This includes the creation of the NM Board and programmes focused on tackling crime and environmental issues.
Year Two: ‘It’s Time to …. Listen and Act’
This encapsulates the work undertaken by the NM Partnership to listen to the views of local residents who are often classified as ‘hard to reach’. This includes the establishment of a youth and black and minority ethnic forums and the development of approaches to tackle housing health and educational issues.
Year Three: ‘It’s Time to …. Build’
The approach to be undertaken in year three is to build on the success of established interventions in crime and the environment and to develop key interventions in the housing market. This also includes the establishment of programmes to tackle health inequalities and poor pupil performance and formal evaluations of existing interventions to promote mainstreaming and disseminate learning.
Years Four-Five: ‘It’s Time to …. Achieve’
During years four and five, we will continue to work with schools to improve the performance of local children and expect to see a measurable change in achievement levels. We will also work hard to ensure that successful funded interventions are continued by statutory organisations when Pathfinder funding ceases.
Years Five-Six: ‘It’s Time to …. Reflect’
During year six we will commence planning for the end of the programme. We will do this by reviewing the progress made, identifying gaps and drawing up plans for other organisations to tackle these problems beyond the Pathfinder programme.
Year Seven: ‘Time to …. Celebrate’
By the end of year seven we will expect that the Parkfield and Mill Lane area will be a considerably more desirable place to live and work than it was before the Path.nder was set up. We expect to see that compared to year one there will be: • Increased house prices • Reduced unemployment levels • Reduced crime levels • Improved recreational and youth facilities/activities • More residents living healthier lifestyles • Higher pupil attainment • Cleaner streets
