Attractions

Stockton-on-Tees is home to a diverse selection of tourist attractions. The River Tees, being the main focal point of the the Borough's tourism, has been developed to provide an excellent environment for water based activities. The Tees Barrage has created clean Grade A 2 Star , deep water making the river suitable for watersports such as sailing, rowing, wind-surfing, water-skiing, kayaking and canoeing. A man-made white-water course, river cruises and a full-scale replica of Captain Cook's Endeavour can also be enjoyed on the River Tees.

Preston Hall Museum, a Victorian manor house set in 110 acres of parkland, portrays what life was like in years gone by and the town's galleries hold exhibitions of works of art and stage events reflecting the history and culture of the area.

Much of the Borough of Stockton falls within the wider Tees Forest, giving access to a number of country sites. These include both the larger recreational areas, like the country parks, and the smaller local nature reserves.
