Funding Opportunities
The Leisure and Sports Development Team offers advice and support to sporting organisations considering/pursuing external financial assistance from the range of funding currently available.

Some of the funding opportunites currently available are:
Club Booster Fund
The NHS Stockton funded grants programme is open to sport related voluntary organisations in Stockton-on-Tees. The aim of the scheme is to support the development of a more robust infrastructure for sport and active leisure and to increase participation levels across Stockton-on-Tees, specifically targetting low participation groups.
Grants of up to £5,000 will be awarded to successful applicants who can demonstrate that their project supports at least one the following outcomes:
- More adults participating in 3x30 minutes of moderate intensity sport or active leisure per week
- More young people participating 5 hours of PE and sport per week
- More people volunteering in sport for at least 1 hour per week
- More people from under-represented groups participating in sport and active leisure, thus greater equality of opportunity
- Greater awareness of the sport and active leisure opportunities available to the local community
- Halting the year on year rise in obesity amongst children under 11 years
- A reduction in health inequalities
- Improved personal well being of older people
- Increased opportunities for children/young people in care
- Increased provision of positive activities for children/young people

Sport England Small Grants Programme
The Sport England Small Grants Programme has been set up to support local community sports projects which seek to increase participation, sustain participation or develop opportuinites for people to excel at their chosen sport. You can aaply for any sum from £300 to £10,000 but the total project cost cannot exceed £50,000
It is open to any bona fide not-for-profit club or association, statutory body or educational establishment
Sportsmatch
The Sport England Sportsmatch programme increases investment in community sport by matching new sponsorship money pound for pound to support the development of grassroots sport in England. It makes awards to organisations running projects aimed at increasing participation in sports at community level.
Having received a large number of high-quality applications for this financial year, Sport England have now committed the Sportsmatch budget for 2009/10. As a result, the online investment centre for Sportsmatch applications will be closed until December.
Awards For All England
Awards for All England is a simple small grants scheme making awards of between £300 and £10,000.
The Awards for All programme aims to help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need.
To do this they want to fund projects that meet one or more of the following outcomes:
- People have better chances in life - with better access to training and development to improve their life skills.
- Stronger communities - with more active citizens working together to tackle their problems.
- Improved rural and urban environments - which communities are better able to access and enjoy.
- Healthier and more active people and communities.
You may be eligible to apply for an Awards for All grant if you can meet one of the criteria mentioned above, and:
- you are a not-for-profit group (including social enterprises), or you are a parish or town council, school or health body.
- you have a bank account that requires at least two unrelated people to sign each cheque or withdrawal.
- you have a governing body with at least three unrelated members
- you can spend the grant within one year.
Mayor's Benevolent Fund 2009/2010
The Mayor's Benevolent Fund has been established to support the needs of older people and youth activity in the Borough fo Stockton-on-Tees in particular by:-
- The provision of funds to enable selected older peoples' groups to enjoy a better quality of life
- The provision of funds to enable young people to undertake activites that they would otherwise be unable to do

The Sustainable Facilites Fund
The Sustainable Facilities Fund invests £10m a year of Lottery and Exchequer money into innovative projects capable of transforming the places where we play or take part in sport.
Round 2 will consider applications 26 October to 21 December 2009
