The main role of the Community Sports Network Officer will be to set up a Community Sports Network Group. This working group will be made up of many different key partners and organisations, such as Parks and Countryside, Community Safety and the Youth Service. The aim of the group will be to work together to widen access and increase participation in sport and physical activity for members of the public, based on their needs.
As well as this, they will be working with local people who want to become leaders or volunteers by supporting them in placements and with volunteer mentors at different sporting clubs across the Borough. In addition to helping clubs out with volunteers, they will be working closely with those organisations that want assistance with finding from various funding streams and support will provide support in completing funding applications. The CSN role will also work with groups and clubs to help them achieve club accreditation for their association.
Other aspects to the post will be to:
- Identify participation levels in Stockton and to set up different types of recreational activities for adults
- To work with young people in Stockton to set up Street Games initiatives in a number of areas across the Borough
- To set up small action groups for various sports to support local clubs and their needs.
