Children and Young People

Leisure and Sports Development Team are committed to increasing levels of participation of children and young people through a number of initiatives and working closely with key partners to maximise the opportunites available to participate in sport and active leisure.

The Children and Young People Section support in the development of PE and School Sport and are now focusing more heavily in supporting the voluntry sector to improve and extend opportunities for children and young people in the community setting.

We have two dedicated Leisure and Sports Development Officers who are focusing their work around the life stages of children and young people. One Officer is focusing on bridging the gap in provision for children up to the age of eleven years, with an empahsis on the younger, pre school age range. The second Officer is developing opportunites for young people 12 to 19 years through a number of initiatives and projects.
