Sport England and Big Lottery Fund have invested £5.2 million creating Active Places - an exciting new, online database of sports facilities in England. This easy-to use website is there to encourage everyone in the country to get active by helping them find out about sports and fitness facilities in their area. It's free to use and the most comprehensive database of its kind in England.
This is just the first stage in a very ambitious project. Sport England currently cover the following types of facility but plan to include many more.

This website allows you to search for sports facilities anywhere in England by a number of different ways. You can browse an interactive map of the country, search for facilities in your local area, use the name and address of a specific facility to find out more information.
Please be aware that this is the first stage in an ambitious project - Sport England have collected information on over 10,000 sites already. Currently they hold the locations and details for nine different facility types, and this information is being constantly checked. If the facility type you require isn't part of the site yet please bear with them. Sport England will introduce other facility types at later date but can only collect so much information at once.
