People of the Book
By Geraldine Brooks
This is an outstanding book. The historical detail of religion and anti Semitism throughout Europe over the centuries makes powerful reading . The author's descriptions of people, places and events are vivid. The novel has a twist towards the end that makes it exciting. This is a book to be recommended. 10/10
Certainly a fascinating read. Strains of "Arabian Nights" mixed with recent echoes of the Balkan Wars. I could vividly see this "book ", smell the exotic spices, admire the gold and silver and warm colourful images. Cleverly working back and forth through the ages, the characters are believable and well drawn. A good book. 9/10
Excellent writing -loved the composition of the book. The clear language
and attention to miniscule detail brought the historic settings and
characters to life. You could step into their timeframe, feel and suffer
with them and understand their actions. 10/10
