Charlotte Gray
By Sebastian Faulks
Very well written and researched. Harrowing content. Brilliant narrative
and pen portraits. Enlightening and thought provoking 4/5
Rather too descriptive on inconsequential matters - not a gripping story at
all. Many parts passed over without explanation. Too long and boring in
parts but picked up near the end 3/5
Very long winded. Could have been reduced by 100 pages at least. That said,
I really enjoyed it and found it very moving. I liked the way the writer
was able to thread the characters' lives together showing the real victims
of war - "the ordinary people". Also enjoyed learning more about occupied
France. Ending was a bit "tidy" 3/5
