Bag Books
Bag Books are multi-sensory story packs for those who
cannot benefit from main stream stories. They are different from
regular books in that the pages are separate pieces of card with an object
or material attached which the listeners can feel, hear or smell and any
visual stimuli is in shiny, bold, bright colours. They are specially
written and produced to catch and hold the attention of children who are at
an early development of language skills. Bag Books are suitable for
children and adults with severe, profound and multiple learning
difficulties and children on the autistic spectrum. Stockton Library
Service has staff specially trained to deliver Bag Books story sessions.
If you would like to request a session for a group of special needs
children, please contact your local library. Alternatively if you work
with special needs children and would like to borrow a Bag Books
pack, just ask the staff at your local library.
