Art Mural in Teenage Area
Art students from the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Art and
Design at Stockton Riverside College have created a stunning mural for the
teenage area of Thornaby Central Library.
Matthew, Melissa, Kimberley, Elizabeth, Adam, Jemma, Brandon, Lewis, Lucy, Samia, Deon, Aaron, Aimee, Jessica and Phillip worked on the brief which was to make the teenage reading section more engaging for its audience. The project was not part of their college work and was completed in their spare time - including during the half term holiday! They dreamed up the design themselves and have depicted comic book heroes, literary figures and even Marilyn Monroe.
Jess Walker, one of the students involved in the project said: "We each worked on our own section of the mural but it was great having to coordinate alongside everyone else to make sure that all the pictures worked together."
Sue Sneyd, Improvement Co-ordinator for Stockton Libraries, said: "The students have created a fabulous piece of artwork and we are all delighted with the end result and the project as a whole."
