Children & Youth Services
Stockton Library Service have a Children and Youth Services Section
whose work is focused on public library services to the children and young
people of Stockton.
Children & Youth Services co-ordinate, run and participate in a number
of events and initiatives every year. The Section offers various services
to children and young people, and to schools within Stockton Borough.
Services are:
Class visits to your local library:
You can bring your class for any of the following: story time sessions;
user instruction and library skills sessions; general introduction to the
library and services offered; tailored session to fit your needs as far as
is possible. To arrange for a class visit or for further information please
contact the relevant branch library.
Homework PCs for Study Support and lifelong learning
These PCs have multimedia CD-ROM and the Microsoft Office suite and are
available in all branch libraries. Introductory sessions in the use of
these facilities can be arranged through the local library concerned. Free
internet access is also available in all community libraries.
Homework Help Clubs:
These sessions are open to children and young people of all
ages.
School Visits:
A member of Children & Youth Services staff or a Community Librarian
can visit your school at any other time for storytelling, library skills
and introductory talks.
Events:
Involvement in Stockton Library Service events, such as the national Summer
Reading Challenge, Stockton Children's Book of the Year and the Northern
Children's Book Festival.
