Arts and Culture
The Arts Team consists of:
- Jan Doherty - Arts Development Manager
- Rachel Willis - Arts Development Officer
- Lindsey Stephenson - Spark Development Officer
- Shirley Wells - Arts Development Administrator
We are working towards 'extending the opportunities for all sectors of the
community to experience and participate in the arts', the team is involved
in running arts events, developing public art projects, engaging with
education providers and creating opportunities for creative
practitioners.
The team plays an active role in the management of Stockton International
Riverside Festival (SIRF) and has a particular focus on increasing the
participation elements of the Festival. Last year, over 350 people
participated in the Community Carnival and Parade performance and
costume-making workshops. Participants worked with professional companies
to create large scale presentations for the Finale procession. This year we
want even more people to participate, please contact us now if you wish to
join in this year's Community Carnival and Parade event.
In July 2004, Spark, a brand new children's art centre opened on the site
of Our Lady and St. Bede School, which offers a range of art opportunities,
from training for teachers, to educational sessions for primary age
children to community art classes.
