INSPIRE - A Passport to Knowledge

Inspire North East - Passport to Libraries

The INSPIRE North East Passport is a card which tells the library you are visiting that you are a genuine learner and that your special requirements for information or knowledge cannot be dealt with by your own library.
This initiative is backed by MLA North East and provides learners of all ages – from 16 to 106 – with access to a wide variety of public, academic and specialist libraries across the North East.
If you cannot find the information you need in your local library service you can visit any of the participating library services who will be happy to assist you in your quest.

How can I get my passport?
Applying for an INSPIRE Passport is easy, first discuss your learning or information requirements with your local library staff and then complete the Passport Application form, providing evidence of local library membership
On receipt of your passport you can then visit any of the participating libraries which have the information or knowledge you seek – remember to take your passport with you.

Which Libraries Can I Use?
The INSPIRE North East passport is accepted in the following:
12 Public Library Authorities – Darlington, Durham, Gateshead, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Redcar & Cleveland, South Tyneside, Stockton and Sunderland.
5 University Libraries- Durham, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside.
2 Special Libraries – The Library of the Literary and Philosophical Society of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and the Natural History Society of Northumbria
7 College Libraries – Bishop Auckland, East Durham & Houghton, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, New College Durham, Newcastle and South Tyneside.
