How To Join

Stockton Borough Council Library Service operates an 'open to all' policy which means that anyone who lives, works or visits the Borough is welcome to make use of the library facilities.

To join the library you will need to complete a simple membership form which is available from your local community library, or from any of the other branch libraries within the Borough. We can also send a form to you by post or you can download one (see below)

You will however ned to come to a library in person to confirm your identity. You will need to produce two forms of identification, one with your name and address and the other with your signature.  (see below for a list of acceptable identification documents).

Please Note :If you are under 16 years of age your parent / guardian will need to sign the membership form for you and will be responsible for any items borrowed on the ticket.

You will then receive your library card which can be used in any of the Stockton Borough libraries

Requesting an application form by email
If you would prefer us to mail an application form out to you, simply send us your name and address details by clicking on the contact email address, and marking your email with the subject 'Library Membership'.
We will send you a form which you can fill in at your leisure and take along, with the necessary identification documents, to the library of your choice where our friendly staff will complete the details and provide you with your library card.

Downloading an application form
If you would prefer to download your own version of the form just click on 'Library Membership Application' link in the online services section at the bottom of this page.  You can then fill in the details and take the form along to your local library.

About your card:

  1. Please take care of your ticket as a charge will be made for a replacement adult ticket.
  2. Please remember to bring your ticket with you when you visit the library. If you do not have it with you, you will be asked to show a form of acceptable identification (see below) before you can borrow items.
  3. Please let us know of any changes to your name, address or telephone details.
  4. Beware of lending your ticket to anyone else, as you are responsible for any items borrowed on it.
  5. Please let us know as soon as possible if your ticket is lost or stolen.
