Readers' Groups

Reading - share the experience.

More and more people are discovering that readers' groups are a great way to socialise, read books that they wouldn't normally have chosen and share their reading.

Have you ever wanted to talk to someone about the last great book that you read?

Why not join one of our reading groups in Stockton Borough most of which are recruiting new members.Once the groups are full we will add your name to our waiting list.

Groups meet once monthly and usually all discuss one title, occasionally they might discuss the writing of a particular author or books in a genre.

Will it be highbrow?

Readers' groups are all about enjoying reading and sharing thoughts and feelings about books. You don' have to be a literature expert.

Who chooses the books?

Usually the group leader.

What if I don't enjoy the book?

Its fine if you don't read the book but you might feel more comfortable in the discussion if you know a little of what the book is about.

Support for Readers' Groups.

If you are already in a readers' group in Stockton Borough the library service can support your reading by supplying sets of books from our Reading Resource Collection sited at Norton Library.

If you would like more details contact Claire Pratt at readers@stockton.gov.uk or Cath Maddison at Norton library on 01642 528019. You can also enquire at any Stockton library.

Readers' Forum.

Don't have time to attend regular meetings then why not join our online readers'group - Readers' Forum by submitting your review to Claire Pratt, Reader Development Officer at readers@stockton.gov.uk.
