Young assembly members with mayor
Stockton Youth Assembly will: ·

  • offer an opportunity for young people to become engaged in the learning process and decision-making structures, which affect their lives and those of others, as well as their environment.


  • encourage young people to gain the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to identify, advocate and pursue their rights and responsibilities as individuals and as members of groups and the community.


  • enable young people to understand and act upon personal, social and political issues that affect their lives, the lives of others and the communities of which they are a part


  • provide a forum and voice for young people that represent the views of young people at local level. Where young people from varying social and economic backgrounds can meet, and collectively debate concerns and issues concerning young people in their community


  • facilitate and co-ordinate opportunities for young people to consult with elected members both locally, regionally and nationally on issues that affect their everyday lives.


  • enable young people to get involved in local, regional, national and international consultations, training opportunities and projects.
