The Learn to Remember project was born when Stockton Youth Assembly Members visited the Imperial War Museum in London and were interested in people's lives in the the second world war. This project also helped to raise funds for the local British Legion.
During a discussion with the young people involved in the project, it was explained by members of the British Legion why the young peoples' peers do not buy poppies and so the project group came up with idea of awareness bands. The bands have been designed and ordered and are now being sold. The wearing of the band will let older people know that young people do have some understanding of what peoples' lives were like during past conflicts and that young people appreciate what others went through so we can live in freedom today.
