Now couldn't be a more exciting time to be a young person in Stockton-on-Tees. The launch of the Children's Trust and 'Every Child Matters' means that young people's views are being listened to more than ever before. Stockton Youth Assembly is just one of the ways your voice can be heard, read on to find out more!
Stockton Youth Assembly was launched in June 2004 and it aims to give young people a voice in Stockton-on-Tees.
Stockton Youth Assembly members meet monthly to discuss and debate young people's issues. The decisions reached by young peole are taken to local decision makers and can influence change for young people and their communities in Stockton-on-Tees. Stockton Youth Assembly aims to have a wide variety of young people from Stockton-on-Tees represented. Individual young people are welcome to join to get their voices heard, as are representatives from schools, colleges, youth groups and youth projects . It's a very effective way for young people like you to have a voice on the issues that affect your everyday lives.
Stockton Youth Assembly also has links with other regional and national
organisations aimed at getting young people's voices heard. NERYA (North
East Regional Youth Assembly) and UKYP (United Kingdom Youth Parliament)
are two of these organisations and Stockton Youth Assembly members have the
opportunity to attend regional and national events run by these
organisations.
ALL young people are welcome to join Stockton Youth Assembly and the
government's recent focus on young people through 'Youth Matters' means
that your opinions are being listened to and acted on more than ever
before. Stockton Youth Assembly and you can:

Stockton Youth Assembly is run by young people and everyone involved gets a
chance to have their say. Youth AssemblyMembers are committed to monthly
meetings and there are other opportunities to join sub-groups.
