The SMART Awards

The SMART Awards are a fun way of recognising the achievements and effort of young people across the Borough.

Each year the Council's Youth Service, together with a panel of young people, run the Stockton Mayor's Achievement Recognition Trophy Awards for young people aged up to 19, living, working or attending school in the Borough area - including Billingham, Eaglescliffe, Ingleby Barwick, Norton, Stockton, Thornaby, Yarm and surrounding areas.

The Awards are supported by the Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, along with 96.6 tfm and organisations and businesses in the Borough sponsor the ten awards.

The ten categories include bravery, educational effort, educational achievement, sport and a friend/family award. Every young person nominated receives a certificate to mark their nomination at a special awards ceremony each spring.

Most of the awards are not about being the best at something but about the effort made or achievement reached under particular circumstances.
