STEPs Initial Assessment

Initial Assessment

This is an initial interview with an Employment Training Advisor and will involve talking about:

· Short/Long-term aims and interests

· Previous education, training and work experience

· Any areas of concern about your disability, training or work or the support you may require

Once the Initial Assessment has been completed we would start to compile your vocational profile

Vocational Profile (VP)

This is compiled to help identify and plan the steps we need to take towards achieving your goal. The completion of the VP takes some time and in this time we hope a working relationship has developed between yourself and your Employment Training Advisor. Whilst completing your VP, if you want us to, we will also be actively searching for suitable training and/or job opportunities.

Training Opportunities

We can support participation in a wide range of basic and vocational courses. Qualifications can be achieved.

Voluntary Work

The Service can also provide voluntary, unpaid work experience opportunities, to introduce or re-introduce you into the world of work.

Job Search

Support from your Employment Training Advisor can include preparing a C.V. to attending job interviews with you. The service is well networked with employers and agencies to ensure a wide range of job opportunities.

Training or Employment

If you're taking part in a course or have achieved a job, the service will continue to support you and will monitor and support your progress. An Employment Training Advisor is available to give continuous support or one-to-one support on a needs assessed basis if required.
