Curriculum Enrichment Programme 2009-10

Rhythmix Workshop (Key Stage 1)
Four weekly sessions for two Key Stage 1 groups (30 mins per class each week).

Essential musical skills developed through song and percussion playing including activities that focus on the pulse and rhythm, loud and quiet, fast and slow, long and short, high and low.
Music Box (Foundation Stage)
Four weekly sessions for two Early groups (30 minutes per class containing up to 18 children).  For larger groups please book and extra session.

Each week focuses on items in the box based on different Early Years & Foundation Stage themes.  

Story Time Workshop (Key Stage 1)

A half-day workshop involving two Key Stage 1 classes (One hour per class).

Creating music based on a story.  Links to literacy lessons.

Sounds Creative (Key Stage 2)

A half day workshop for one Key Stage 2 class.

Improvising and composing to create a piece to perform at the end of the workshop. 

Moving Music (Key Stage 2)

A half-day workshop for one Key Stage 2 class.

A combination of lively stick rhythms and dynamic movement contrasting with the atmospheric sounds of Tibetan singing bowls and expressive movement. Work on a piece to be performed at the end of the session.

Sing out (Key Stage 2)

A half-day workshop for two Key Stage 2 classes. (One hour per class)

Sing a wide variety of songs (including some in french).  Fun warm-ups and tips on singing.

Pipe-Up (Recorder at Key Stage 2)

Four weekly sessions to two Key Stage 2 classes. (30 mins per class each week)

Start playing recorder from scratch in a lively and fun way.

Taiko Taster (Key Stage 2)

A half-day workshop for one Key Stage 2 class.

An introduction to the dynamic style of Japanse Taiko drumming. Simultaneous rhythm and movement. Emphasises confidence and presentation skills. Rousing whole class performance at the end.

In addition to the workshops in the Enrichment programme we are able to offer themed workshops tailored to individual schools' needs.  This gives teachers and pupils the opportunity to try something completely new!

African drumming

Samba

Tuned percussion

Bells and bookwhackers

Folk song and dance

American singing games

 

LIVE MUSIC EXPERIENCES
Ensemble performances in schools by teachers from Tees Valley Music Service are now BIGGER and BETTER.

New larger ensembles of approximately 10 players.

Strings, woodwind, brass and percussion in each ensemble.

Wide variety of music

Opportunities for audience participation

Presentation of 45 minutes (aimed at KS2, but KS1 are welcome at your discretion)

Plus

"Hands-on" workshop of 45 minutes for one or two KS2 classes.
