TVYO is the leading youth orchestra in the north east and gives several concerts of major works each year under the guidance of their conductor Nicholas Nowicki. They have toured abroad with Tees Valley Youth Choir to Spain, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, Belgium, France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Catalonia and visited Italy again in July 2009. They also gave the first performance of a recently discovered work by Coleridge Taylor at the Eden Project and have seen many of their players achieve national and international recognition over the years. They reached the finals of the National Festival of Music for Youth in July 2009.

Membership is by audition - Grade 5 or above for strings and percussion, Grade 6 and above for brass and woodwind.
