School consultations and statutory notices
These pages contain consultation papers and statutory notices for proposals to make changes to schools.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council maintains primary, secondary and special schools to meet the needs of children living in the Borough. When the Authority considers making a major change, such as opening, closing or enlarging a school, the people likely to be directly affected by the change will be consulted first - parents, staff, school governors, Ward Councillors and neighbouring schools. A consultation paper explaining the change will be sent out to all those people and placed on this website.
The Authority must take account of all the views expressed during consultation before deciding whether to go to the next stage. This gives all the people already consulted a second chance to comment, and it extends the consultation to the general public by publishing a Statutory Public Notice in a newspaper and at the main entrance to the school. The Notice will also be available on this website. It will set out what the change will mean, how anyone may express an opinion about it, and the closing date for comments. All opinions received in writing by the closing date will be considered before a final decision is made.
