Future Learning - The Next Steps
Since the beginning of the year Council officers have been in detailed discussions with government agencies about the shape of our BSF programme. We have lobbied strongly for the key principles that emerged from consultation last autumn, including:
· three schools in Billingham
· two schools in North Stockton, one in the east and one in the west
· more secondary places in Ingleby Barwick
· retaining Catholic education in Billingham, Stockton and Thornaby.
The government has now agreed the broad outline of our BSF programme. The leaflet Future Learning - The Next Steps describes what has been agreed so far.
Strategy for Change Part 1
This is a twelve-page document setting out what our programme is about. It describes the challenges facing secondary education in Stockton-on-Tees, and how we intend to use BSF to meet them.
Partnerships for Schools, the government's BSF delivery agency, has published guidance on what the Strategy for Change Part 1 (SfC1) should look like and what it should contain. The guidance contains a set of questions that our strategy must answer. Our SfC1 includes the questions and our answers.
The SfC1 was approved by the Council's Cabinet on 17 July and sent to government for formal assessment on 31 July.
You can download the SfC1 from the link below.
