Stockton Teenage Pregnancy Partnership is part of a national strategy aimed at reducing teenage pregnancy rates by 50% by 2010. Stockton-on-Tees aims to reduce these rates, provide support for young people who are already parents, and to increase by 60% the number of young people engaged in education, employment and training, in partnership with Connexions.
The Teenage Pregnancy Partnership will; - Provide sex and relationship education in schools
- Provide contraceptive and sexual health advice and services in ways that make it easier for young people to access, including emergency contraception
- Provide social and health support to young people who are parents
- Provide specialist services for young people who need extra help
Through the Strategy, education and services are provided and supported by a variety of voluntary and statutory agencies.
The Teenage Pregnancy Partnership offers a wide range of services including:
- Education in Schools
- Education to other groups who need extra help
- Support and education for young parents
- Contraceptive services for young people
- Emergency contraceptive services for young people
- Advice and support in school via the school nurses
- Midwifery support for young Mums
